Education: who to support after the 2027 federal cuts
The Federal Council's relief package 2027 proposes to cut CHF 36m a year by 2029 from education. Here is what the cut means, and Zewo-certified charities in every canton that work on it.
What is cut
- CHF 20m Federal grants under the Continuing Education Act end: about CHF 14 million a year to cantons for adults' basic skills (reading, writing, maths) and CHF 4 million to organisations such as SVEB and the umbrella association Lesen und Schreiben. (measure 29)
- CHF 10m Federal grants for vocational training projects are capped at 50 percent of costs, so project partners must pay more themselves. (measure 30)
- CHF 6m Federal funding for environmental education projects ends completely. (measure 47)
